The event, which was supposed to be an inter-studio competition at Dance with Me New Jersey, quickly blossomed into a major media event after Kirstie Alley tweeted about it. Never under estimate the power of a tweet or Kirstie Alley!
After a day-long dance competition with students from all three Dance with Me studios – Long Island, New Jersey and Soho (the best! – no I’m not partial), the stage was set for a star-studded event.
Dancing with The Stars pros, Tony Dovolani and Maksim Chmerkovskiy comically MC’d the night in addition to performing. The evening included fantastic performances from world-champions, Val Chmerkovskiy and his partner, Daria Chesnokova. They are truly remarkable to watch!
Dancing with The Stars Troupe’s brother and sister pair, Nicole Volynets and Maks’ Mini-Me (as I like to call him ) Ted Volynets showcased their stuff. Some spectacular non-ballroom dancers wowed the crowd with non-traditional moves and seven lucky raffle-ticket winners got to dance with the Stars as well.
But the crowd-pleaser of the night was Maks and Kirstie kicking up their heels to perform what Maks says might be the favorite dance of his career, their “Forget You” number – what I believe was their very first dance on this season’s Dancing with The Stars. You loved it then and you’ll love it now – enjoy!
