95.5 WPLJ, my favorite radio station, put together an intimate concert with David Cook at the Hard Rock Café in NYC.

Being that I heard about this a little late in the game and knowing that the only way to get tickets was to win them, I resigned myself to the fact that it’s probably not gonna happen.

I listened and phoned the radio station anyway. With my slow ass iPhone (takes 5 seconds to end a call and hit redial…what the f*ck! how is THIS a “smart” phone?) after about a minute I figured my chances were slim to none. I thought about hanging up then realized, I didn’t have anything pressing going on in the next 2 minutes of my life that I couldn’t hang on the line a bit longer just in case.

What happened next was nothing short of a miracle. The phone rang and a guy picked up! “Congratulations, you’re the 20th caller!! You’ve won 2 tickets to see David Cook tomorrow night at the Hard Rock Café. Get your sweet ass down here at 5:45pm and your name will be on the guest list.”

I screamed. I wept. I practically fell off my chair. That is exactly how it happened. Except he didn’t say “sweet ass” but that’s just because he’s never met me.

I’ve never won anything in my life. Charlie Sheen can have his tiger blood and all the f*cking goddesses he wants but THIS, Mr. Sheen, is #winning!

Let this be a lesson to all of us to be hopeful and go for it, even if it seems to be against all odds!
