Dreams ~ I dreamed about the Americna Idol Battle for the Title show all night, tossing and turning, trying to make sense of it all. I watched David Cook’s performances again and loved the first two more and the last one was off the charts from the first listen to the 10th. Other David Cook, (DC) fans will want to check out this tribute to him on youtube.
Here’s some of the reasons for my restless nights sleep.
Amnesia? ~ I think the judges were suffering from amnesia last night. Did they not forget that throughout the season, David Archuleta (Archie or DA) only had maybe a handful of really good performances and the rest technically great but lacking emotion and individuality and artistry – yes talented he is, but DC had like a dozen times where all the judges were blown the ef away, praised for his originality, vocal prowess, artistry and star quality – “you’re already there”, “you’re ready to make a record right now…hot recording artist”, “you could very well win this whole thing”, “I feel like I’m already looking at the next American idol”, “you take risks and that’s sign of a great potential artist” – just a few of the judges comments (Many from Simon – the judge whose comments are, for the most part, the only ones that are impactful). DC is unique and outrageously talented, charismatic and a sweetheart to boot. I don’t understand why the judges didn’t take everything into consideration and speak to that and weigh the scale of talent demonstrated over the course of the show (as a progression as DC said) rather that a one night ‘fight’. This made no sense.
DC’s Risky Business Brings Down the House! ~ Archie choosing Imagine was so safe. Yes he did it well just as he had 7 weeks ago. Congratulations DA, you were smart to choose a song you know they would love (surprise!!), whereas DC took a risk singing Collective Soul’s “The world I know”. He blew it out of the park. He proved again that he IS an artist. He took a risk, went for it – creating another beautiful masterpiece. Normally Simon would have praised him for this! And as an aside, I know I’m not the only one that was delighted to have another brilliant new DC song to download to my ipod. I already have his brilliant renditions of “Billy Jean” and “Hello”, now I have his awesome rendition of “The world I know”. Amazing! And the lyrics so captured the moment, not just for him, but for all of us. These other songs, wouldn’t make the cut in terms of their meaning for this most special night. Duh, hello, is anybody out there? On Coke judges?
Shame On You “Once, Twice, & Three Times a Maybe” as in Maybe Y’all be a little bit Crazy! ~ “Hello”? Really? All I have to say is shame on you Simon…just an opinion from a man who will look back on his critique and plead temporary insanity, I had amnesia at the time and didn’t remember the brilliant artist that I’ve seen all season long (usually shunning the other contestants into oblivion). You want ‘hello’ again Simon? …. Well, HEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOO!! Wake the F up!! Simon, have you been in Paula’s meds? Did someone slip a rooffie in your diet coke? Come on!! Really!? Enough said for now. I may have more later as I ruminate over the disasterous display of stupidity on the loose.
Diva 3 ~ Still hopelessly devoted to David Cook (for all the OBVIOUS reasons!!)
